However, the isometric deadlift with the Iso-strap seems to lessen the pain almost immediately and permanently for the last two weeks, ending a period of more than usual pains for the last 6 months. Yoga helps, but I also tried to make the lower back stronger alas, deadlifts with weights or bands tended to make the pain worse, so did rowing trainers. My weakest point is my lower back, not surprising since I’m an office dwelling 54 year old man with a length of 192 cm (85 kg) who makes long days mainly sitting. The program is sensible and complete (I added some things like plank and wall-squat though), and the exercises have much more a compound character then the other isometric things stuff I mentioned in the beginning of this post (admittedly the border between isolation and compound is blurry and subjective) and it made me sweat and gave me that great fit/healthy/strong after-workout feeling.

So 2 weeks ago I decided to try the isometrics program, and I was very pleasantly surprised! Then I remembered Sierra provided an isometrics program with the Iso-strap + Hooks, gear that I already had but mainly used as a suspension trainer and a yoga strap (thanks for that tip, Grunt). So until recently, I added resistance bands training when I wanted to do strength training in addition to Calisthenics.īut like weights before, something in me started to get fed up with bands after 1.5 years, so I was looking for another –additional- strength training. Seems to be good for my sometimes highish blood pressure and feels good too. My favourite workouts are yoga and bodyweight, aided by a suspension trainer (with an anchor at 240 cm).ītw: there is one isometric exercise I do love: the Kiveloff 10 second whole body tension, great for under the shower, in the toilet and other places where I have a short time to spare. I do not know why, perhaps something in my mind of (ectomorph) body doesn’t seem to like isolated exercises, I prefer compounds, I do not like weights either. Same for self-resistance, the bullworkers I tried during the past decades, the Iso-bow etc. I’m not a big fan of isometrics I read PYTP but I do not like limp to limp resistance (nor Petersons tone, we obviously are very different people), it doesn’t me give a workout feeling.
